Preparation is key if we desire to be excellent in our assignments, goals, and callings. When we neglect to plan—whether it’s completing a task, meeting a deadline, or finishing a project—we do a disservice not only to ourselves but to everything and everyone connected to us. Far too often, we try to move forward without truly considering what success will require. Have you ever stopped to ask: Do I have the strength and focus to give this my best effort? That’s why it’s essential to lean on the Lord’s strength. The Word reminds us, “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).
When Jesus told His disciples, “I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:3), He wasn’t just speaking of a heavenly home. He was showing us He is always a step ahead—prepared for every struggle, failure, disappointment, and even success we will encounter. Jesus’ preparation gave us the keys to success in this life and the next. Imagine working on a project, plan, or goal. You may feel like giving up or settling. Don’t give up. Step back, breathe, and identify areas for improvement. If there’s still time, revise what needs attention. Give it your best. “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord” (Colossians 3:17).
Here are 3 practical tips to help you with your next project:
Plan with Purpose
Make sure you have the time to succeed. Allocate blocks of time for specific tasks. Include time-sensitive deadlines, checklists, and milestone markers to stay on track.
Break it Down
Divide your project into smaller, manageable steps. This gives you a clear visual of progress and helps prevent overwhelm as you move toward the finish line.
Rest to Refresh
Don’t be afraid to pause. Taking intentional breaks gives space for creativity, clarity, and fresh insight to emerge along the way.
