Development Is Necessary
Many people never learn how to walk spiritually. Instead, situations prematurely expect them to perform at a level they have never reached. Imagine a baby being born and expected to walk within minutes of entering the world. Such an expectation would violate the natural principles of growth and development that God established.
God often uses natural processes to teach spiritual truths. Just as a child must crawl before walking and walk before running, believers must grow and develop in their faith. The Bible speaks of spiritual babes who require milk before they can handle meat, representing greater understanding and maturity in the things of God. As we spend time in God’s presence, study His Word, and apply His principles, we should grow in wisdom, knowledge, and the riches of His glory through Christ Jesus.
One of the amazing things about God is His ability to propel us forward to heights we might never have imagined. However, promotion should never replace development. This season, make it your goal to grow spiritually and mature in your walk with God. Avoid the mistake of living life underdeveloped; don’t operate in areas for which you haven’t prepared. Allow God to shape, teach, and equip you so that when your opportunity comes, you are ready to walk confidently in His purpose for your life.
